Can medical bills be employment expense?

I am a pilot and was diagnosed with a cardiac condition that all cardiologists thought to be minor. The Federal Aviation Administration revoked my medical (required to fly and be employed) until the condition was under control to their satisfaction. To meet this requirement, I spent money on medications and surgical treatment that had I not I would have to medically retire from my job. Can I write these expenses off as a work expense? They don't meet the 7.5% medical expense amount.........

No - medical expenses don't qualify as job expenses.  Apparently you didn't have health coverage?  Be glad they didn't exceed the 7.5% (did you include mileage?)
