Well, enough about shoes; As we all know tyres are made of rubber; and rubber also weathers out with age. When you buy a new tyre, the lifespan is either so many miles/kilometers or so many years whichever comes first holding all things constant. To be honest with you a ten years old tyre is not safe to be on the road. Maximum should be al most 6 years. That is why it is important to look at the DOT number of the tyre. When the tyre is aged, the rubber deterrioarates and there are a million of cracks mostly on the sidewall of the tyre making it very weak and unsafe to handle stress forces excerted to the tyre during movements. However it does not mean the tyre will break down on the spot .....but IT is NOT safe. Please don't use them.
