first you have to have an image of your costume, sketch and use what is out there. No costume is to hard as long as you have imagionation. i have made a human mascot head by purchasing a balloon the size (med) securing it down, covering it completely and evenly with a light pink foam, then i began to form the facial and allowed plently of room for eyes and mouth. I then bought fiberglass and followed directions and covered completly it hardens within 2 hour butthe application is min so you have to know what area your covering. then add bondo and sand/ sand till you feel smooth and make sure you have mesh on for strength in certain areas. then it is complete.. you begin to buy spray primer 99cents at a walmart and then a lite tan color if you have to use brush paints have fun. after i bought 2 hand shape fans w/batteries and attached them to the inner holding them down w/velco. easier to turn on and off you can touch fan blades because they are soft. I used a screen, from our window /door screen and spray ahesive and then painted the eyes and tonge it was great looked like a human and sent it off to CA. for a performance turned out awsome and had alot of complements. It will go to ny in the future. my mouth droped and so did everyone that saw. you can do it.
