The straight answer: I don't know. I hope there will be no such a thing as a universal language - if you mean the only language spoken. As for a universal second language for everyone - that is a very important goal. I hope that it will be Esperanto, or something very similar to it.

Chinese, Arabic, Spanish and English can be real candidates if Esperanto fails, but I think these 4 have similar chances.
