Best man speech examples?

I know the feeling - I decided to leave my best man speech for the evening before the wedding! Ha ha, I laugh about it now but at the time I was a wreck ...  I panicked for an hour, followed by several bouts of self pity and disbelief etc. you know the drill.

Anyway, for once I actually did something intelligent - I checked on the internet - wedding best man speech examples and came across Dan Steven's best man speeches . There was a small fee at the time, I think it was about 19 dollars (might be more now - should be) anyway I had a quick look at which speech would best suit me and the occasion, copied most of it (ahem) added some of the free jokes etc.

I didn't memorize the speech, just read it out. Everybody was laughing a lot, which was great because that's not something I manage to ordinarily pull off (intentionally that is) , the speech sounded very professional and everyone was very surprised, to say the least, knowing my slightly unreliable reputation - ahem (quite undeserved)!

Anyway, best thing I ever did checking out those best man speech examples.

....Oh yes, here in the States we say best man speech in the other English speaking countries they say best man speach , I stand to be corrected, but I think that's the case ...

You could start by saying 'in preparation for this speech, it isnt the first time i have risen from a warm seat with a piece of paper in my hand' (that always gets a laugh). When I did it about 7 years ago, I was indeed crapping myself literally beforehand, so this statement had a lot of truth in it!

My BEST advice to you is simply this:

1) Dont say anything in your speech that will insult your friends wife or family

2) Dont say anything racist, sexist or homophobic (as the audience wont like it)

3) Concentrate on taking the mickey out of the groom - talk about things that would be mildly embarassing to him - but dont overstep the mark.

4) When you have written your speech make sure at least 1 or 2 other people get to read it and vet it for you

5) READ FROM NOTES! Yes, you heard me. Dont try and do it off the cuff as you will create massive pressure for yourself. The best way to do it is to have your speech on cards, so you can flip over the pages quickly. I did it when I did a speech and the concensus was that the audience didnt even realise i was reading - but I was, word for word. And that takes a lot of stress out of it, I promise you.

Any ideas where I can get some good one-liners for a funny best man speech?

My friend's wedding is this weekend and I need some good best man one-liners. Anyone know any good wedding toasts or has given a speech that left people rolling on the floor...

talk about the good times and or funny things the groom did as a kid and if you didnt know him as a kid then just talk about his personality hope all goes well

My brother-in-law did the best man  speech at our wedding and he just told a few funny stories about him and my husband and one thing he said that was funny "i've been married 2 years and I have learned there are 2  ways to argue..............................and… neither one works"....ha ha.....and then he welcomed me to the family and we all did a toast.
