Do the main religions care about happiness?

In the main religions of the world, is there any reference to happiness? According to the religions, is it important if someone is happy in his life? Or does only what happens after we die important?

I'm not sure religions specify Happiness as an overall goal in life, but what all of them do say, is that one must be moral. Morality, or in layman's terms: when all people are good to each other, Happiness in this life inevitably follows. But I think your last question hits it right on the head. Our morality in this life - our happiness (once achieved) - is only a means to another end, the ultimate end, when we die and move on to the next life. Nice question, BTW. I'm hoping this develops into a discussion, and perhaps someone with a bit more practical knowledge can provide citations.

At least in the Tenach or bible this is where happiness can begin. See the following verse;

(Malachi 3:10) Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. "Test Me in this" says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

When God proves Himself this way that brings true happiness and that means we have got His attention and that brings happiness. May He bless you richly.

I find this very good i like it. having said that. True happiness in this life was in the presence of God.  I dont see that since Mans fall.  I see Man desire and wish to be in that presence here on Earth again. But  God withdrew that presence never to be seen in his true image again until future of prophesy or until or death in which we hope our spirit is found worthy to enter. So if i understand whats said about death when we leave this earth memeories are the only thing that we carry with the spirit If they are light and moral within established doctrine of religion they float like incensce into the presence of God. If they are heavy with burden and wrong doing they they fall into the pit. Because God is the light the alpha.

The entire Buddhist monk’s life is but a preparation,
For his Death Point or moment of separation.
The Jains have santhara,
Quitting life consciously to join with the paramatma.
Hindus go into Samadhi,
Where there is no Congress, Shiv Sena, BJP or Samajwadi.
The Christian merges with the Holy Spirit,
Peace, no more desperate.
The Sufi mystic to become one,
Dances, twirls, prays, trances to get the job done.
Aghora means Illumined with Light,
Longing for Shiva in whom they delight.

Shamanism or the Art of Ecstasy,
The ultimate being one with the super entity.

There is no need to change your faith,
And on your old religion lay a wreath.

MY inferiority complex isn't as good as YOURS

I'm agnostic and slightly bitter so my answers may offend some devout religious readers, but they are my most sincere feelings.I always thought the Bible was basicly saying I was put here (as a woman) to be a baby factory and a slave to my husband. My happiness doesn't matter here on Earth, but if I'm a good little house frou I'll be happy in heaven after I die of exhaustion.

I wish with all my heart I could believe as I once did,but I can't and this is how I feel.Great question BTW.
