which magazines accept short stories and what content? I write autobiographical short stories about family, which I research and find most people love them. Just insightful, moving and mostly upbeat with tears of recognition of the human experience.
Go to your local library and read the old copies of Writers Digest magazines. The magazines will tell you which places are looking for what kind of stories at that particular time amd where to send your querry letter to ask if they are interested in your story. A knowledgeable librarian will be able to find reference books for you that tell you step by step about the process of submitting stories to publishers.
Also you can check out the writer's market. It's a huge book listing all of the publishers, what they publish... There is also a Short Story and Novel Writer's Market. You can go online too, but you have to pay for a membership. It's worth it though because you can track your manuscripts there too. By the way One Real Story is now accepting short stories.
