Wow, we need way more information that what you have provided here.  What was the context of your relationship?  How exactly did she break it off? 

In her defense maybe there were some family troubles that are keeping her from giving herself to you completely.  The only other explanation is that she found someone else or went back to an ex.  It's sad but true, and those are the only reasons I can think of.

     I think that in the 8 months that she has known you, she found out some things that did not agree with her, like differences in your value systems, goals, ambitions.  I n other words, she thought that there will be problems in the future that may cause you two to break up.  This is the essence of dating.  This is the time to find out if two people are truly compatible with each other.

     Did you not ask her what made her change her mind?   She may have found out information about you that she did not like or feel comfortable

and just did not have courage to tell you so as not to uset you.
