I love you, WHAT!!!

so i'm going home from school and this girl is always talking to me on the way home. she has a boyfriend. that was the background info.

so on my way home we're talking and when i get there, i sightly itch her back and say bye. then she says i love you. come now how do i handle that. i like her little but not so much as to say i love you.

You say, "Thank you" and leave it at that. Just because someone says it to you doesn't mean you say it back. Only say those words when you really feel them. She probably has a crush on you, so if you just keep things light and casual, she will get over it in time.
