Hello colin,

This article, although may look a bit to ambitious, or not exactly what you've meant, has all the answers for you. It, basically, explains why is it hard for some to gain muscle and lose fat at the same.

interval training and compound movement type exercises are the best way to go.  But get your diet right first, this is the major piece of the puzzle.

Any exercise will preserve your muscle while dieting. To figure out your calorie needs, go to

www.mypyramid.gov. THEN follow the calorie level that is 500 calories less than your needs now. You will lose 1 pound a week that way, it it should be mostly fat loss. If you like to "boost" this, try the Slim challenge. It is a dietary supplement that is helping people lose fat and inches. It helps you feel full at meals and cuts cravings in between meals. Let me know if I can help you with that.
