Can someone lose the ability to see movement

Some guy at school says his uncle sees the world in still pictures ( he can see no movement ! ) can that be true. he said his uncle was in a car accident and lost some of his brain but did not hurt his eyes. This guy has a tendency to lie so I do not know if to believe him or not.

Your own personal jesus

Yes and it is a known condition called akinetopsia and it is not an eye disease but a lesion on the part of the brain which is responsible for motion processing (v5), in this case the patient perceive the world as changing still pictures.

But there are some cases that show unconscious ability to detect movement.

Go Yedda!

Our brain is a very complicated machine. What we know for sure is that we don't know everything about it and about its functionality.

Trying to look at the specific story - a movement is just a serious of still pictures as we all know. Now, if for some reason, this uncles brain can only "read" the pictures muc slower than a a regular person (let's assume the uncle's brain can only read the pictures every 5 seconds), then yes - the world this uncle see is still with no movements.

Could be jsut a crazy story, but if it made me think about it, then it's a good one...
