It's actually not as bad as an addiction as the media makes it sounds. I just read about some pole that said that 48% of the kids in Israel are addicted, on farther reading it turned out those kids were playing games for many hours and that what they based the addiction pole on. Addiction, by the DSM has a pretty clear criteria, spending a lot of time on something doesn't make you an addict.
There are a few online version of the DSM (sort of the bible of all mental symptoms and illnesses, maybe that would be a good place to start.
