For how long can I keep a cooked steak in the fridge?

Yesterday I went to a restaurant with a friend for lunch and ordered a big steak. I hate about half of it (the fires were so good!) so I took the other half home, because I thought I'd eat it for dinner, but in the end I didn't. Will it still be OK to eat it this evening?

You can definitely eat it tonight, assuming it was refrigerated the whole time.  Would probably be OK one more night as well.

Life's too short for excessive compromise... maximize everything!

I agree with cooking chat, the next day is probably the ideal, provided refrigeration, and one day beyond that might work too.  Any thing past that is risky and why bother at that point risking a stomach ailment for a piece of meat that will have decreased in flavor considerably anyway!

Eat it tonight!

I agree, you can still eat it!

If you're ever unsure of whether to eat or toss, check out these handy Food Storage Guidelines. It's a great breakdown of how long most food items are good for.

What comes around goes around.

Yes it's ok to eat! Ususally cooked steak will keep in the friday for 4-5 days. After that, you may find that it turns rubbery.
