For how long is caffeine effective?

I don't usually drink caffeinated drinks, but last night I drank a lot of Coca cola and then went to bed. I fell asleep after about 20 minutes, and 6 hours later I woke up naturally, an hour and a half before the alarm clock was supposed to wake me up, and I couldn't fall asleep again. Could it be the caffeine in my blood that caused this, or does it disappear in less than 6 hours?

Love is the battery of life....

Hi Leonid,

The influence if caffein on the body alters from 1 person to another.  It also depends how much caffein you consump daily.   So: the effect for some might last 30 minutes to others even a day.....
Besides don't be sure that what happend 2U that day has to do only with caffein..... there can be other reaons as well (bad dreams, you were disturbed by some event, etc).  From 1 event you shouldn't run to solid conclusions.
If you make a good result in gulf wearing a red T-shirt does it mean that red shirt give you extra luck..... lol.....
Best regards,

Caffeine effects everyone differently, and especially if you're not a coffee drinker, it can cause all kinds of weird things to happen.  If you're not used to having caffeine in your blood, it could make you feel like your heart is beating faster, it could make you feel jittery, make you not be able to fall asleep, or not be able to stay relaxed and stay asleep.  It is for sure possible that the caffeine had nothing to do with the fact that you woke up so early, but it very well might have been the cause.  I would try to prevent having any kind of caffeine that late at night, and save the coke for lunch time.
