How long until allergy medicine helps?

I have had bad allergies for months and finally got medicine from my doctor. How long does it usually take to feel a difference with allergy medicine? When will I feel better?

First of all I would like to note that there is no cure for allergy. The treatment available today is only symptomatic, the most popular are anti-histamines to reduce runny nose etc. Those kind of medications should take action within hours. If not, please consult your doctor about that.

All the best.
