Since we are so close to the date, I think iit is another name for Guy Fawkes Day. It celebrates the foiling of the plot in which a group of Roman Catholic conspirators, that  included Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the 

Houses of Parliament on the evening of 5 November 1605.
