Is it okay for my childs school to keep her prom pictures because she did not wear a long dress. I paid for them to the photography company not the school. I have pleaded for the pictures; childs senior year, memories etc. Still they won't give them to me and won't reemburse me. What can I do? Please give me your thoughts or suggestions.
It appears to me that you might have a cause to give a call to the ACLJ. That is a consortant of lawyers that fight for this kind of injustice. I would say that what they are doing is not legal. If her dress wasn't long enough then you would think that she wouldn't have been allowed to attend her prom! Let alone take pictures and such. There is no way they can keep the pictures. Sounds strange to me. Possibly speak with the person highest up and let them know that you are seeking legal help. May convince them to give you YOUR pictures!
Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

Are you sure you have the whole story? What you have said makes no sense as to why they would do such a thing.
I suggest you put your request in writing. Enclose a copy of the canceled check and request delivery of the photos by no later than a specific date.
Further inform the company that if satisfaction is not received by said date, you intend to take legal action and/or contact the local news media. Send the letter certified mail, with a copy to the school administration and anyone else you think appropriate (keep a copy for yourself).
Then be prepared to follow through on your threat.
More background to the issue at hand.. It is a Catholic/private school and when she arrived to the prom many of the girls that had on shorter dressed were forced to wear big white tshirts longer than the dress and they were told if they wanted a pic for the yearbook they would have to wear the shirt. My daughter took the shirt off and took a regular prom picture with her date. The pictures will not go in year book and do not represent the school, but they insist that my daughter was "indecent" and they are holding the pictures. They have passed the buck to the DEAN to the assistant principal now to the activities director. I just want the memories and for the record she looked so pretty and her dress was not "indecent" they are so mean! Thank you for your suggestions I will forward a letter demanding my pictures. Maybe I can get more from the photo company...???
Thank you, I sent over an email aclk and explained the story to them and I am hopeful something can be done. The school is a catholic school and they seem to be so mean and doing this I feel is so wrong and judgemental towards my daughter. They also made her wear a big white tshirt at the prom the entire night. Other students also had to follow this, but not all. Some girls were allowed to go in and wear there dresses. It was very selected on who had to and who didn't. I am pissed about it and feel they picked my daughter because of the way she looks.

I believe something can be worked out and this situation can end with everyone happy. Fist, I recommend that you contact the Parent-Teacher's Association and the Board of Education Superintendent’s offices for your daughter’s school and jointly arrange a meeting with the Principal and if the school arranged the Photography Company (to represent their liability interest), their the Photography Company representative.
It sound as though the Photography Company was contracted or maintained an arrangement to handle the school's (their client) photography and must be accountable for the specifications outlined to them by the school; this sounds like a simple communication breakdown that can be resolved with an alternative solutions.
An alternative solutions would be a retake of the photo with the school or photography company providing a long dress for the photo prompt or acceptance of the photo as an acceptance to the rule if the photo is deemed to be respectable and decent by a majority of the afore mention individuals for the memory of this young girl and her family's 2009 invaluable moment of life.

Just like when this woman wrote a book about gov. Arnold sswarzenegger he told producers oof every talk show if they let that author on the show,"i will never appear ever." AND GUESS WHAT THEY COWTOWED TO ARNOLD! When arnold 1st came to america w/his best buddy to find work? Arnold & buddy would go to houses and tell people they needed their chimney's checked, once on the roof with their massive strenght pushes over the chimneys & charged people an amout of money that was outta this world. This was part of the book! This is absoultely true! I swear to this i saw and heard it until hushed up!
