kuryakin motorcycle performance parts i recently had a set of cobra exshaut pipes put on my 650 yamaha v-star.i also wanted them to install an high-5 air filter sytem.the yamaha shop said that it drew to much air volume and even tried bigger jets than the kit came with, but still could not get proper fuel to air ratio mix.this bike is a 2007 model.is it just all the air pollution controls on newer bikes.i am very disappionted. the shop put the stock air cleaner back on and jetted the carbs up for the cobra exshaut.they said they talked with yamaha tech. support and said they dont recomend this type of product for this bike. they did not charge me for any labour since they chould not get it to run right and said they have told there sales poeple they will not take any more jobs on 650,s.the bike would only run 90 mil./hr. before. i just wanted a little more. i have owned older 650,s that would run 110. know the bike has better take off and midrange power but only will top out at 85. it will hit 85 in fourth gear until the rev. limiter starts to make it cut out.when i shift into fith it does not accelarate any more.do the people at the yamaha shop know what they are doing .is this top speed problem a lack of fuel or am i just stuck with 85 to 90 as the best this bike can do without spending a fortune on machine shop work.i really like the looks and size of this bike.i was told that exhaust and the high 5 aircleaner would give this bike a big boost.is t here anything else i might try like a k&n air filter and bigger main jet. the shop said they changed 91.3 stock main jets to 95. do you think a bigger main jet and k&n filter would help.
