A:Just a quick update to this question. With the new Windows Live Messenger 2009 you no longer need any additional programs or plugins to open the live links in the default browser. This has been fixed in Messenger and it will work correctly, so the solution is to upgrade to Windows Live Messenger 2009 and use it. It's much better than the old MSN Messenger.
