Dear brett i grew up in mequon, wisconsin. I watched the packers play in the ice bowl. Your presence on the team the past 17 years has been amazing. I cannot believe that they have the right to prevent you from playing elsewhere if they do not want you back on the team. (I THINK THEY ARE CRAZY NOT TO WANT YOU BACK.). However , in the industry that i work in (dialysis), nephrologists are protected from these harsh "non-compete" actions, which you are a victim of. There was some federal legislation about 3 or 4 years ago that makes it impossible to enforce non-compete clauses which prevented physicians from leaving a business relationship (medical director) and going elsewhere to work at another dialysis facility. I am just wondering if this federal action might have set some sort of precedent which could help you move on to other opportunities. I hate to see you leave, and i hope you can work things out with the packers, however, if that is not possible, i believe you should have a right to make a living as you choose, not become a bench warmer and waste your incredible talent. I will watch you wherever you play and wish you all Good Things Always. I hope that you get this email.
