HIPS, short for Host Intrusion Prevention System, is a system of real-time protection that analyzes the behavior of unknown applications rather than relying on a system of definitions to determine if a file is safe or malicious.
After enabling HIPS, Spyware Terminator creates a database of executable files on the local hard disk. After this database is created and the HIPS function is activated, any attempt by an unknown application or library to install is analyzed behaviorally. If its behavior cannot be determined as being safe, Spyware Terminator will display a warning.
