Get him a good attorney for the legal trouble he's in. As for his punishment at home, you need to come up with some sort of punishment that will teach him that stealing is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Up until now, he has not learned this so be sure to make the punishment be REAL and something that he will remember if he tries to do something illegal again. It's important to remember that if you want your son to stay out of trouble, you need to make sure he realizes his crime is serious and this type of behavior can lead to worse crimes and eventually jail time.
