Dear Pajakan, The reason that Chuck Shummer and the rest of the Democratic Senators and House members wish to see the Universal Health Plan passed is because if it isn't passed this time, there might NOT be another chance for its passage for a generation or so down the line. You are two years older than I am, but I fully support the plan. Having lived in a Socialistic State, Northern Ireland for three years, and having seen the marvelous way that people are treated over there, everyone gets the same care when they walk into a hospital not this wealthy cadre of people who can walk into any hospital and get any care that they need. It is a sorry state of affairs that the wealthy in this country can get exactly what they want or need while the rest are lucky to survive. With the DEPRESSION that is what is upon us now, many are out of work for the first time in their lives. That is not a good sign. If our situation doesn't change quickly, then more and more people will have to file for bankrupsy. Soon the laws AGAINST bankrupsy will be changed through the Senate and House to make it impossible to file --- where will we all go then? To the poor house where many of us sit presently? Something needs to be done and done quickly. IF Social Security (that you are getting a share of every month), and Medicade that is paying a portion of your medical bill every year was stopped, and Medicade was stopped because there was NO MONEY LEFT IN THE TILL TO PAY THOSE BILLS, where would the millions, like ourselves be? You and I will not be happy campers, that I assure you of. So the next time you get your Social Security Check (Roosevelt), Medicare (Johnson) then you must ask yourself if there was no compassion for the little guy would we be alive today?
