Is it too late for America?

The end’s in sight. The war against terrorism is coming to an end. The law enforcement action against those who do Americans harm has evolved.

The hard Left in this country was, like the rest of us rallied, however briefly, around a strong President taking action in response to 9/11 to protect our shores and to keep Americans safe abroad. That support was not long-lasting. From the start, they recognized that a real war would require sacrifice and would divert resources from their goal of expanding domestic programs — universal healthcare for example.

With the decision by President Obama to move the trials of 9/11 mastermind Khlid Sheikh Mohammed and four other terrorist suspects into civilian courts in New York, the President makes it clear that he thinks terrorism is a police matter. Even New York Gov. David Paterson objects. “This is not a decision I would have made,” he said. “I think terrorism isn’t just attack, it’s anxiety and I think you feel the anxiety and frustration of New Yorkers who took the bullet for the rest of the country,” he said.

New York City, as well as those who served in the Pentagon and those who were aboard the seized airliners, did take the bullet for the rest of the country. What happened then — and I think what happened at Ft. Hood –was an attack on America.

The Left would like to be done with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan so that it can take those resources and direct them to Obamacare. An indecisive President is indecisive because, I suspect, he agrees with them and wants to get out, but not in a way that makes a cut-and-run retreat obvious, lest the consequences for the Middle East be blamed on him and his party in Congress.

Life is a one lap race. Make many pitstops.

You speak wisely and I agree with you. All this PC stuff has to end somewhere, somehow. We cannot continue to bend over backwards to keep from offending someone that wants us dead and wiped off the face of the earth. Islam is coming to get us one way or the other. We can't just act like it doesn't exist.

These are uncertain, scary times for the United States. I've traveled extensively in the US and some of my contacts were with farmers and ranchers. I had contact with many small businesses. These contacts left with me a deep faith in the American people and their ultimate insistence on freedom as we knew it in the "good times". The American people will prevail, hopefully with the ballot but if not, certainly with the bullet. Arms and ammunition sales are higher than they've been in years. I do not think of this as a threat but rather a promise saying "you may treat us badly but there are limits".

This is nonsense.  Bush didn't lose support for his actions against AQ and Afghanistan, but did lose support for lying us into a war in Iraq, which was to grab its oil.  Of course, he failed in this.  Bush, with his anti-government and regulation stance, largely ruined our country, leaving Obama with the almost impossible task of rescuing the country.

In most cases in the past, an exuse has to be made to get something done. War is not a good thing but it has been done in the past to start up an economy. We will be in the middle east for extended period of time. Yes we are fighting terorrism but we are goning about it the wrong way. We have the technolgy to pick out an orange from space but we cant seem find osama. give me a break. the united states military have enough special forces units to handle this job, without the BS of whats going on now. The so called attack on baghdad was BS TO. WHEN ONES TO WAR THEY GO TO WAR TO WIN. Not leaving buildings standing typ war. Not having to go door to door looking for the enemy. We have not shown that we mean business. We have the capability to level mt's to the ground. I will bet money that when they feel the gound shake & falling all around them they will come out of hiding. If we cant use our best weapons to kill the enemy why do we have them.  This is not a please come out so we can get you war. you flush them out with relentless bombing. yes they are all not terorrist but if they have no place to hide then they are easier to capture. If you say thats alittle rough, well dont worry we THE US will go back & rebuild the country with tax payer dollars but we will have gotten their attention. KNOCK IT OFF OR WE WILL DO IT AGAIN.  All the above wont happen becuase of political correctness. In a real war you dont ask if I can shoot the enemy you just do it. You dont get arrested for capturing the enemy, and then going to a possible court marshall for it, and on top of that some of our spinless politicians letting it go as far as it has. This is senting a very bad message to the people of america & future recruits. It does sent a clear message to the enemy of what they can get away with.
