I have just installed Win XP SP 2 on a HP Compaq 6715s notebook but as it came without any drivers I am going through great problems.
I downloaded drivers from the HP site but the Device Manager still says that USB Controller and PCI Device drivers are missing.
I also downloaded an "HP Software Update" utility but it doesn't offer me any updates, too. Checked the AMD site, same result.
Where could I find those drivers?
You need to get the specification of your laptop, and see what is missing from the device manager and is on the spec sheet.
The USB Controller is definitely available in the hardware (if this is what you mean by "is on the spec sheet") but I do not know where to look for its drivers.
The USB controller can be something that connects to the USB port, not neccesarally something in the computer.
When I insert a USB Flash drive, I get the message "This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port." so USB drivers should be missing, right?
Not all USB ports are neccesserally USB 2.0. Try to check if there is a USB 2.0 patch on HP's web site.
