What kinds of herbs can you grow in Southern California?

I am planning an herb garden and need some advice, what herbs grow well in an suburban environment like LA?

Never give up on someone you can't go a day without thinking about.

Most mediteranean herbs.

See Richter's (Canada) catalogue it gives USA zones for every herb
