killing the sealions of the columbia river--is it really the answer???

I live in the great Northwest--it was reported on the news that we have sealions in our columbia river--up by the cascade locks- eating our salmon--so now they want to kill off the sealions to save the salmon--whats your feelings on this??---this is a vicious circle--there's got to be other solutions--things are way out of control---once again (to me) the humans has screwed up--come on people we (the government)  can do better then that--right???--what can be done other then killing?-- share your views and answers  to me--thank you
