Because, in order for the principles of socialism to be applied, your freedom will be rescinded, increment by increment, degree by degree.  If you recall the national socialists in Germany in the early mid 20th century definitely were working for their own 'good'.  I'm not saying that Obama is intending to move things that direction, but rather that he's trying to eliminate all of the roadblocks, which are constitutional.  The men who worked on the Declaration of our independence and our Constitution, were some of the most insightful men ever.  They'd seen tyranny both in history and in their current time.  They founded this nation as a people who could fight just that sort of thing.  Now it seems we're handing them all our rights, just because we're too lazy to utilize them.  We won't all be pushed aside that easily though......................................
