During chanukah, in what direction are the candles of the menorah lit?

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Left to right, facing the menorah.  Ideally, it should be first lit outside the doorway of the house.  If this is not practical, it should be placed in a window visable to the public thoroughfare.
