Hello Meg

ePals is an adult-led experience.  That means as a teacher or a parent, you should join ePals, create a profile on behalf of you and your child(ren), create monitored accounts for your child(ren) and search our database for classes or families that meet your needs.

In the case of families, I would suggest that when you use ePals' search page, you select "homeschool" as one of your criteria.  This will result in our database pulling out a lot of profiles that have been created by parents as opposed to teachers.

Our experience with ePals has been very positive and very safe.  My son is 10 years old and has ePals from South Korea, England and Italy -- all girls.  He uses my personal account and has a monitored school account.  It is a great and safe way to make friends and learn about other cultures.  It goes without saying that in an unmonitored account, you should look in on the correspondence until comfortable with the person exchanging emails with your daughter.

KIGALI, Rwanda, 29 September 2008 Rwanda recently celebrated its first-ever week to promote the health and well-being of its women and children. This nation is already on track to achieve the Millennium Development Goal of reducing young mortality by two-thirds by 2015. Its first Mother and Child Health Week was organized by the government with support from UNICEF and other partners to ensure continued progress on child survival. Some 1.3 million children under the age of five, and over 400,000 women, will receive critical health interventions such as immunization, de-worming and nutritional support in all 30 districts of the country, UNICEFs Representative in Rwanda Dr. Joseph Foumbi said before the health week began.
