A:The answer is yes you can join the trap or any fitting p.v.c to a.b.s but you have to use a multi purpose solvent available at most hardware or plumbing supply house. My guess is you tried to use a p.v.c solvent, the materials are differant plastics 1 p.v.c is a poly plastic and 2 a.b.s is a styrene. good luck
