How to iron silk?

Twice already I burnt a hole trough my silk dresses. People say to iron silk you need to do it in low heat inside out. For some reason it doesn't work for me , I set mine on the lowest heat and it keeps on burning it . I got a beautiful dress now that I want to iron. I need suggestions on how to iron a silk dress without harming it?

It seems that you did everything "by the book" ,did you follow the advice to press silk while it is still damp with a warm iron (below 275 degrees)?

maybe check also what is written in the following site :

I usually fling a towel over the silk dress I am ironing and then iron over it on a complete wallop.

Generally does the work. Hope it assists.

Remember not to press the iron on the silk fabric directly, it soooo delicate, you
wouldn't want to risk it.

Use a steam iron setting at medium. You can iron silk with a warm iron. You can cover the fabric with an all cotton cloth. I use Panasonic Steam/Dry Iron.
