Depending on your target audience, one social platform or another may be more beneficial to your marketing efforts. Almost every Social site has a group feature where many of like interests gather for discussion. Find a group interested in your area or service or product, but know who you are targeting.
Facebook is excellent for connecting with friends, family and their networks. LinkedIn has generated numerous leads for me, especially utilizing their "Answer" tool and discussion board. Twitter can be very effective if you are consistent with your updates and post messages and links of value to your audience. Youtube is a very powerful lead generation tool to drive traffic to your blog. And your blog. You have to offer something of value, capture email addresses and over deliver with your information in a newsletter. Also don't forget joining groups in your industry. Other pros may have overflow or would love to collaborate.
