We watched too much TV but at least then there were not so many repeats; played cards, read more and just wasted precious time.

It depends who you are.... if you're one of those people who uses the internet to be in touch with family and friends, to do work, and to be productive, then you were also the kind of person who before the internet, went out of your way to call family, to get your work done, and to life life to the fullest.  I don't believe that the internet has really changed that much in people themselves.  If you're one of those people who wastes your life away on the internet, you're the same kind of person who played video games and wasted time in different ways before the internet.  Everything is wonderful in proportion, and everything has it's pros and cons.  Internet is the most wonderful invention probably ever... but if you abuse what it does, then it'll be destructive.  That's how most things in life are.  You have a choice to do what you want with your time, so choose wisely.

If you think time spent on the internet is a waste then you aren't spending it wisely!

I learn more in one day just using StumbleOn than I used to in a month at school. Try signing up and browsing Astronomy or science or whatever takes your fancy...truly addictive and educational at the same time
