how do I save an email that is lost thru a connection problem?

Not sure exactly what you mean by a connection problem, if the email was delivered, it would reside on the server, your provider may provide you with web mail to check your email, login into webmail and check your mail boxes. If it was never delivered, you can contact your provider for more detail.
