Why should I use Yedda and not Yahoo anwers?
Rejected slogan #235:
Yahoo Answers is a great service, if you're comfortable with it by all means go ahead and use it.
Yedda is designed to make knowledge exchange easy, efficient and (gasp!) fun.
We believe that if you have a question, you should be able to ask it. So go ahead and ask as many questions as you need to - you won't find yourself limited by credits or points.
We also feel that when you have a question, you should be able to ask it even if you're not sure which category out of 200 categories it fits under. So we made it real easy to tell us what are the topics of your question, using free form tagging (i.e. topics).
But even tagging, while an improvement over "directory trees" (e.g. Taxonomies) is not always that easy. Which is why we invest a lot of effort in understanding what your question is about, and providing you with suggested commonly used topics. Hopefully this makes the process of asking a question as easy as possible.
And when you do send your question to Yedda, we know that as far as you're concerned, it's probably the single most important question in the world (well. Aside from "How to achieve world wide peace" of course). We don't think that questions should go into a "popularity contest", losing their place as newer questions are posted.
So, we created the Yedda Active Broker (temporary name!), which gets attached to your question the moment it is posted - a component which is rather single-mindedly obsessive about getting an answer to your question. This is the part of Yedda which is responsible for relentlessly searching through our lists of people for the right person to give you the best answer.
Plus, there is of course the ability to easily embed formatting, links and graphics in your question when needed. Hardly a must, but we just hated not being able to do that.
As for answering questions, with so many questions out there, and on so many different topics, finding that question which you'd like to answer because you think you can help out someone out there can be a rather chaotic process. For example, if you're a tax expert, and you happen to enter the system just a few days before the next Harry Potter book is out, you probably don't want to wade your way through hundreds of Harry Potter related questions. And vice versa of course
So, once you tell us what your topics of interest and knowledge are (using My Settings > My Topics), we will find these questions which we think you will be able to help with and send them directly to you (of course, you can define how many and how often, if at all). We perform the search in an associative (or "semantic") manner – for example, if you specify "Home Improvement" as your interest, we understand that you might be interested in questions related to do it yourself, power tools, etc. (and if we get it wrong, tell us, and Yedda will automatically adjust itself and will better target your interests).
There is a lot more in Yedda, and a lot more coming up. But the bottom line – we're single-mindedly serious about exchanging personal knowledge, and we are trying to make Yedda the best place for this.
And, if you comments or ideas about how we can do better, please tell us (here, or through the Feedback link, or at feedback@yedda.com).
I tried to list major differences between Yedda and Yahoo Answers in my previous reply. Let me try to clarify my points:
From the asker point of view:
From the answerer point of view:
(These are the differences you see right now. As I said in my previous post, there is a lot more coming, but, I'm sure you'll understand if we choose to keep some of these competitive differences close to our chest while we're working on finalizing them)
Another difference is that, due to resources constraints (did I hear anyone saying boot strapping?), you're probably not going to see a major PR event getting the world celebs to ask and answer questions on Yedda.
But, hopefully you are going to see Yedda growing and maturing in the hands of a team that's rather single-minded focused on providing you the best possible service for personal knowledge exchange.
Does this answer your question?

I gather you are not asking from a user standpoint, but trying to get the definitive differences between these two huge Q&A -related sites?
As a user, I would not stick with one or the other. I would use both, because of the old "two heads are better than one" theory. The more resources I hit upon, the more I feel that somewhere within all of those websites, I'll find the answer I need.
H., speaking of character limitations, we're thinking of creating an extra-large tagline just for you!

Simple, Yahoo Ans<ers will soon be full of spam and useless answers
Yedda is still like a "virgin" answering system
In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.
I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.
My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injury. Rotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.
When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

I have to say I agree with Jimmy above
I tend to use both - but at times it depends a bit on the mood that I'm in. Yahoo answers - in some of its sections at least has become a bit like a political talking shop. There also seem to be some users whose only aim is to trade small talk with each other or to trade insults with others.
Yedda is "cleaner" and "slicker" and more enjoyable.
Well done to the Yedi (collective noun for all those in Yedda) for providing a great resource

Maybe it is worth to use both?
