Hi,

There are many differences since the entire approach / philosophy are different. The main differences:
1. Emphasis on learning through: practical work
     / experience / labs.
2. Learning as a whole (using all senses as well as:
     emotions & muscles). Wholistic approach.
3. The progress is per one's acheivements.
4. Recognition that children learns in a different
     way compared to adults.
5. Learning is like building a house, the present
     learning is always based on the previous
     learning.  Brick after brick.
6. The child is very much responsible to what he
     learns and to the rate of progress.
7. The teacher is more an advisor / a guid.
8. The relations between the teachers and the
     children are very much different. The dialoge is
     different.
9. Emphasis on basic works: Sawing, knitting,
     gardening, cutting, paiting, trimimg, etc.
Please note that when D"r Maria Montessori created her system it was revolusionary (Italy, around 1900) and the differences to the traditional schools were tremendeous. Since then the traditional schools adopted many of her ideas and today the differences are much smaller.
