Does God talk to you?  I mean this question in the literal sense, the way God talked to Moses.  Private replies are welcome, since generally this is considered a sign of insanity and I understand that no one would want to publicly announce that God talks to them.

I am marking this question as answered.  It has been an interesting discussion, and you all seemed to behave very civilly for a discussion of a religious topic.  Some of you strayed a little off topic at times, but maybe with focus and practice we can get better at having these types of debates.

Feel free to continue this discussion.  I would like to have more and different people posting answers to this question, and I may repost it at a later time.  I will also post other religious questions of a controversial nature, and will, of course, look forward to the response of all those who have answered this question.  I thank you all for answering this question.

I would like to offer one rebuke to many of you, and I hope you don't take it wrong.  When I asked this, it was as a personal question, i.e.  what do you think or hear or see.  I don't feel the need for quotations and citations to back up your argument.  I am interested in what you think or feel personally, and we can leave it at that.  We should discuss the why if you like, but trying to prove one is right and the other is wrong by quoting others if not what I want.  If I wanted to know what the writers of those books or scrolls or whatever media felt, that would be the question that I would ask.  If they choose to answer this question themselves, them they can quote themselves all they like.

None of us can always be right all the time, just as none of us can please everybody all the time.  We should not strive to always be right, for it is by our mistakes that we learn.  We should not try to please everybody, for in the end we shall not please ourselves.  But we should try to continue to grow and learn, and love each other despite our differences and disagreements.

No, God doesn't talk to me nor do i believe that God talks to anyone else.

i do believe, however, that i was "enlightened" or aided by "outside" entities when i wrote my treatise A Search For Truth many years ago.

Literally God doesn't talk for He doesn't exist physically But I believed that God uses instrument to communicate with me just like for example a friends, relatives, family or a communities, those are an instruments used by God to make me feel He was there and having an abundant life makes me realized How Glorious is God.

God does not speak directly to humans as he did in the Bible.  The Bible contains 66 biblia or little books.  Many men were used to write these books which contain God's instructions, future plans for humans, how he feels, i.e what makes him sad, happy and angry.  Also, included are examples of blessings and punishment. But most of all, it contains the history and life of his Son who was a model for Christians to follow in his footsteps.  He was called the Greatest Teacher.  Everything we need to follow in Jesus footsteps, please God his father and be able to attain the hope of finding true happiness while we live in a stressful world, along with instructions on how to be the best parents, children, husbands and wives are given in the Bible.  The hope of living forever and how to meet the requirements for true christians to receive that reward is laid out in the Bible verses.

The Bible is the only book that God said he is the Author of even though he used faithful prophets to write down the words.  Much like a Boss dictates a letter using his secretary but his thoughts and words are contained in the letter and his signature is at the bottom.

Jesus served as a tutor to teach the people who had forsaken the true beliefs of the bible on how to properly serve God, his father.  He always endeavored to do everything his father asked of him and he always directed the worship toward his father.

The Bible is a complete book of instruction and covers the beginning of God's creation until the end of his prophecy in Revelation which is the War of Armegeddon.  The fulfillment of prophecies given sometimes 200 years in advance sets this book apart from all others.

Before Jesus died, he said he would send a helper which was God's holy spirit or active force to help us in endeavoring to become the kind of Christian God approves of and recall the things we learn from the bible to mind.  This avenue of prayer is another way of drawing close to God and developing a relationship like Abraham had when he was called God's friend.  We just need to recognize our prayers must be asked in the name of Jesus when we close them because he is the mediator for us and it also helps us to remember that he gave his life for us and became a ransom for dying mankind.

The Bible is also used by his  ministers on earth who are following his command to "Preach the good news in all the earth" and are the ones that are feeding his sheep and using the Bible for guidance and instruction.

These are the methods he is using now to talk to us.  It's complete.  So if you really want to get the benefit of all the "healthful teachings" of God's way of talking to us today, why not begin with prayer, ask for help in understanding the Bible, search for someone who is willing to have a personal bible study with you so you can understand it better because contrary to what many believe, the Bible is not laid out in complete chronological order and can sometimes jump to different subjects.

We need to take advantage of talking to God in prayer all through the day because this can bring peace and when you receive answers and direction, you will experience for yourself how to use this means of communication God provided for us in the time we are living to talk to him.  Remember the Bible says he reserves this priviledge only for himself and that "he is the hearer of prayer.

This is a sincere and valid question, which is probably one of many you have.  So please search out the answers to any Bible questions by going to the Bible (which is like a cookbook to cooks or a map for a traveler) and also use the best line of communication available for us today to talk to and get answers from God and that is prayer.  You may be surprised at how he may lead you to the answers and then you will personally experience how God talks to us today!

Prophets, and direct communication in Bible times were necessary to get the instructions written down, provide proof that the Bible was from God and guide his people who had no complete written instructions.  But today we have the complete book of instructions to help us reach all our spiritual goals.   Happy reading awaits you.

I study the Bible with inmates at Jails and have been a student of the Bible for too many years to count.  If you have any other questions, just ask.   Hope this helps.

"But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, 'You are my God! My future is in your hands.'" Ps. 31:14-15

God def does. I dont like it how people are saying "No God doesnt do that" or "No God doesnt work that way" Don't limit God. He has talked audiably to me before. I was debating whether or not i should tell this girl what another girl was saying about her, it was pretty bad, but i knew it would cause drama and i heard in the sweetest manliest voice ever "Jen, it's none of your business." No one can tell me that that wasn't God. If you have a personal and intimate relationship with him, you should understand that crazyyy good things happen. If God can cast out demons, heal people, give you the gift of prophecy and tongues, why cant he talk out loud? I'm not the only person to have this happen. Joyce Meyer and other famous people have experienced this. But don't just take my word for it, look into it. God bless you dude!

Of course I do not swear that anything in any of the blogs or posts or links in the answers to my question are true.  I am trying to ascertain the truth and am gathering as much information as I can and sharing it with others.  If I do come to any hard conclusions I will definitely share them with all of you.  I will also share information from private replies as permitted and only with the permission of the person making them.

i don't think he talks to anyone as he did Moses but i do belive he uses his creation to commnicate with those seeking him those Seeking his Kingdom and his Righteousness.

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible qualities have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, both His everlasting power and Mightiness, for them to be without excuse,

YHVH speaks to those with Spiritual "Ears to Hear" and Spiritual "Eyes to See" through his Holy Spirit (Righteousness Seeking Mindset).

In other words, YHVH reveals Himself (His Righteous WILL) to those whom he has Chosen (ALL Seekers of His Righteousness), and YHVH does so without audible words emanating from without the body.

You say;  "the way God taked to Moses" and I don't know about that, or how incredable that would be.  Yet I do know without a doubt in my mind that God has talked to me.  Not in an audible voice that I hear in the room, but in my conscience mind where there is no mistaking it is Him.  I can share my experiences, and I'm so happy that I can!

I was single though my entire 30's, I never even went on a date.  I was barren, couldn't have children, and had been hurt deeply from a relationship I never thought I would recover from.  Well during that time I spent a lot of time trying to 'find myself' and I spent a lot of time with God, Praying, asking Him questions, reading the Bible watching Christian Television, listening to radio, tapes and CD's., just so desperate for direction and answers in my life..

One night I was laying in my bed, I was 36 years old, asking God again, what is wrong with me God?  And He simply said, "you are dependent".  I didn't understand that!  I was a very independent person!  I took pride in being independent!  Then a Christian friend helped me to realize that God was trying to tell me that I can't make it without HIM. That I need to put Him above everything else going on in my life at the time.

Since then, I have asked God questions, and He hasn't always answered me, but when He does, it's never more than 2 words, and He never repeats it twice, or changes His mind!  To my questions I have heard, "YES"  "NO" and once when I asked Him to Please help me, He said;  "I AM".  I have also sensed warnings, and promptings, sometimes to even Pray for a complete stranger I see walking down the street, or shopping in a store.

I am no body special, I am a simple person, a sinner who deserves nothing from God!  But I love Him so much, and strive everyday to trust Him, and Believe in Him.  I think that's all He wants from us, and He will Bless us, and give us unmistakable answers to our questions, whether with a word or two in our mind, or things placed before us,  if we only Believe HIM, Trust HIM, and pay attention to HIM.  He is our Heavenly Father,  He wants us to come to HIM, He wants to answer our questions.

Yes, YHWH talks to me just as He does with everybody. The problem is, sometimes we aren't tuned to the same frequency therefore we miss what He says. Prayer isn't a monologue of us sharing with Him our grocery list of things that we want Him to "go fetch." Prayer should always be a dialogue which means that we need to shut up every once in a while and listen for His still small voice. When He speaks it isn't in an audible voice as when people speak. That would be ineffective for language is a very ineffective method of communication. There is simply too many vageries which could be interpreted one way or another. Instead, He communicates with thoughts because they are instant, not requiring long, drawn out explanations. It takes just an instant for YHWH to share His thought and instantly I understand the complete transmission.

Also, YHWH isn't very chatty. Why? I suspect because we already know the answers to many of the questions we pose and maybe our flesh is wanting dispensation to do something outside His will. YHWH isn't going to breathe life to such desires so He remains silent. We are, after all, on this planet to be tested even as David was tested and the Bible says that David was a man after YHWH's own heart. Testing means not being given all the answers. He wants to know how we will act on any given issue. So He remains silent.

Years ago Mikhail Gorbechev (sp?) went missing for a few days. It was the headline news on every channel. Speculation was that the Soviet mafia had deposed him, meaning that he was probably dead and buried. That is, after all, how things are done in the Soviet Union. YHWH woke me up at 3 o'clock in the morning and told me that Gorbechev would re-appear in 72 hours.

In the whole shceme of things, that didn't mean squat to me so I rolled over and went back to sleep. Of course, in 72 hours Gorbechev was back and in control of the government. Much later on I finally realized that YHWH was simply letting me know that he is the God that controls all things, that He is omniscient, all-knowing. Truly, how remarkable is that?! The God that made everything that has been made, that sees everything and knows everything even before they happen, woke me up and left His calling card: I am who am or, more fluidly translated:

YHWH: I (ever) shall be (the same) that I am (today). That makes His name a verb, never a noun as most people are led to believe by the exceptionally poor translation, "God".
