Check the state website, but they probably won't have a listing until several weeks before the lien auction, if it's run the way Michigan used to. I'm jealous that you still have the ability to buy tax liens. It's a great safe way to make money or get property cheaply.

How do I go about finding out whether a property has a tax lien against it in the state of Virginia? It's a FSBO and the owner wants to get rid of the property ASAP!

This is the State of Virginia website and the page that lists all the local websites for towns, cities and etc. Usually they will tell you if any back taxes are owed just by asking.
