I was taking an herb "Cascara Sagrada" while nursing my newborn, the first 7 days after birth. Later found out that you are not to take while nursing. Did this harm my child?
Cascara Sagrada is used primarily as a mild laxative, so it's probably better not to take while nursing. My guess is your baby has had some sort of diarrhea. I believe the damage is not lasting, but you might want to have her checked.
Probably not it can give a new born severe diarrhea casscara is a laxative it may also have the same effect on baby just like it has on you. Any medications can cross over to baby through your breastmilk so just use caution.
