Need some ideas for grandson's first birthday present. I am on a tight budget and need to be creative about it. Any ideas? I have about a month to come up with a good idea.

if you can sew it might be a nice thing to make a pillow case for his pillow.A fleece one might be nice or a remnant with boy things in pattern. I have done this for all ages when stumped what to give. Is really good. If you knit or cochect a small scarf. Sherry O

sherry, I don't knit or crochet, but the pillow case doesn't sound like it would be too hard. I like that. A person never has enough pillow cases.

If your near a hobby lobby or Michaels they have tons of very inexpensive gifts that help him learn also.  A lot of the books now that you buy for children his age come with a stylus that he gets to pick the answer (like colors).  They really love them.  Little boys still love any types of cars on the plastic track and a bag of army men for 99 cents will keep him busy for a year.  Be sure you give him shoe boxes to keep his little Men in or cars.

Heck at my age I still like blocks.  I do one thing though Donna when giving an infant a gift.  You can get a simple shoebox and line it with the gift wrap so they can put the blocks are little army men away.  If not their Mothers want to kill me.  Just a thought.

Good idea van. I have found myself in that situation also. New rule of thumb here. Cool
