There was this beautiful butterfly flying low.. low enough for our yellow lab to jump up and catch her. her wings are torn but she can move them up and down.. she is alive still so my question for my little 6 yr old daughter who is crying over this.. can we help this little butterfly? Thanks so much for any information you may be able to toss at us.

Explain to your daughter that the best thing for the buttefly is to go back to bature so it can recuperate in its natural habitat.

Butterflies have a very short life style as it is, but that's probably not something you'd want to share with a six y/o.

in all honesty i would tell your daughter that the butterfly will be ok and let it go they only live to be a few weeks old anyway can it fly? i was like that when i was a kid hated to see any animal hurt! i am still that way anyway if you want to try and nurse it back to health use sugar water on a cotten ball in a net cage if its not too bad it may fly eventually

also be very careful not to touch the wings too much there wings are made of a powdery subtance that will disolve if handled too much
