It all depends on who and what organization you ask . The Humane Society Of The United States sees Farm Animals as sheep , goats , cattle , chickens , turkeys, ducks and geese to name a few . All Equines have their own position between a farm animal , and a domestic animal . Some animal welfare list the equine under companion animals . Some feel that a farm animal , livestock is one that is raised for human consumpation . The Amish community use a horse for farming and consider them to be a farm animal . Some insurance companies refer to them as a farm animal others class them under equine . My horses are my friends and companions I do not consider them to be a farm animal , regardless of their monentary value . Their value to me is not counted in dollars and cents . Horse sense perhaps .
