Hi,

Obviousely you won't get a precise answer.  However, if you assume that a horse will pull a loaded wagon on a dirt road at an average speed of  5 - 7 k"m per hour, than in 10 hours he will go some 50 to 70 K"m (not including stops - food, drink......).

Thank you.

Do you know what would that be in miles? I'm trying to do some research for a freind that has been looking for an old lost outlaw treasure in Arizona for over 40 yrs.

They loaded the loot in a mexican freight haulers wagon (1 horse pulling it) and traveled  north with it all night and then reburied it at daylight. I doubt that there was even a road there as this was in the 1880's. I think they are looking for it to far north as I don't think that the wagon could have gone as far as they think it went! Also it was in July in a desert type terrain.

Hi,

Tnx the story makes it very intersting (In fact I wondered why should you ask such a question).
In miles it will be some 30 to 42 miles.  You are right: In July, in a hot desert, with no reasonable roads they would have to stop for rest (and water) every say 45 minuts or so......  Hence I'll guess that they wouldn't go even that far.......  I'll say 20-25 miles make sense.
Best regards,
