Treatment

Topical antifungal drugs containing miconazole and clotrimazole, available by prescription or over the counter, are used to clear up the infection. A folk remedy for ringworm is a 1:1 solution of cider vinegar and water. Another alternative is 2 drops Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Oil) mixed with an ounce of water. In cats and cattle, sulfurated lime rinses are often used to treat ringworm. Enilconazole, as a rinse, is an effective ringworm treatment available in many countries for treating animals. Fungal infections may take a while to clear up.

Terbinafine is highly effective for Tinea corporis. It treats itching, burning, cracking, and scaling that accompany this condition. It cures most ringworm except the types affecting the nails or scalp, which are very difficult to treat.

Griseofulvin is a traditional drug used to treat ringworm in both animals and People. It can be very effective, but may produce side effects.

Undecylenic acid (Castor oil derivative) is an effective fungicide for fungal skin infections such as ringworm.

I suppose you realise this is a form of fungal infection of the same family that causes 'athlete's foot', and as such you can use the same type of anti-fungal treatments. So far as conventional drugs go the previous answers quoting terbinafine and the like are quite correct and they are effective if you use them as directed on the manufacturers instructions. If you would rather stay clear of the conventional approach there are a couple of herbs that are just as effective.

Ginger capsules is one. Three capsules a day are all you need, swallowed.

Garlic is the other. The traditional Chinese approach is to crush several cloves of garlic and steep them in olive oil for two or three days. Then strain the liquid off (through muslin perhaps) to remove the bits. Use cotton wool or cotton bud to apply the remaining liquid to the affected area once or twice a day. An alternative way is to put the crushed garlic in some warm water and add some rubbing alcohol; filter as before and apply.

Otherwise, if the rash is not in too personal a place, you could simply expose it to the light and dry environment, The fungus doesn't like either of these conditions, preferring damp and warm!

Good luck with whichever thing you try!

Some where in Arkansas.

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

Dilute bleach is quite effective.  Of course, there are some spots on the body that I consider sacrosanct and would not use this.  T. versicolor is a fungus separate from ringworm. It responds well to  Head and Shoulders.   Be sure and get the generic.  Leave it on over night and wash it off in the morning. Remember that skin takes longer to head than if does for fungus to die. I am a bit perplexed to see how OTC pharmaceuticals, which once were by prescription only,    qualify as home remedies.
