I have been battling with depression since I was ...

I have been battling with depression since I was an eleven year old girl, now 47 and I have not yet even come close to finding a remedy, I have tried gobs of drugs, home remedies, you name it and I just wish I could find a majical cure!! I have a nine year old daughter to raise on my own and I want it to be better for her too as many things I could do with her I am just too depressed. I have lost hope many times, but have a friend with bipolar who helps to lift me up. DOn't worry I see a psychiatrist and a peer support specialist. I don't think sometimes, that I will ever be happy again...I was once, because I remember it! If I did not have my nine year old daughter I am real afraid I would do something to myself because I did many times in the years before I had her. I also have two grown sons that I feel I have failed miserably as a mother, but I have a good relationship with both of them. Please Help!!!!

Hello, deblojo13.

I'm sorry to hear about your years of suffering. I can relate, because I battled clinical depression for 45 years, starting when I was 16 years old. I was in psychotherapy three times and kept taking Prozac, but nothing helped. I had to call in sick about four times a year. I always said I had the flu. You'll be surprised when I tell you how I recovered.

I don't know you, but I'm going to guess that at least three of the following things are true about you, even when you're not depressed:

  • You don't get much exercise.
  • You average less than 8 hours' sleep.
  • You eat a lot of junk food and fast food.
  • You don't get out of the house as much as you should.
  • You're addicted to something, possibly sweets.

Did I guess right?

I was making four of these lifestyle mistakes before I recovered. When I corrected them, my depression ended.

New research studies say that taking better care of yourself is the way to go if you want to recover from depression. For example, a University of Texas study says that just 30 minutes of exercise three times a week gives you five times more protection against depression than Zoloft.

Want to give it a try?

I've written a book, Up without Meds, that shows you how. You can find it on Amazon and on my website.

I wish you the very best, deblojo13, and hope that depression will soon be out of your life for good.

4 thumbs up

Hey deblojo13.

I also suffered through depression for the majority of my late teens and early/mid twenties.  I played lots of sports and did lots of exercising, which helped a bit but in the end it didn't resolve my problems.  I was constantly searching for something fictional that didn't exist. Always looking for more than what I was able to grab, which always left me feeling inadequate.

I'm not sure if you have ever yoga but I would HIGHLY suggest it.  I just started it about a year ago, and it sounds so cliche but it has brought tremendous balance to my life. It provides a combination of stretching, exercising and relaxation which when combined create an incredible level of tranquility.  I find that when I have my diet in check and perform yoga multiple times a week, I feel like i regain that control over my physical well being, my emotions and my ability to be happy.

Never forget that life is about the journey, not the destination! Enjoy this moment right now and don't base your happiness on the future!

 Good luck!

Hi...

Please accept a new approach to your problem. When ever I find a problem I get it solved by my inner god or universal intelligence. All my problems are solved one by one. I thank god for His abundant help in resolving my issues.

Likewise, you need to approach you, your inner mind, the intelligence lying with in you to take up the issue and resolve it.

Your problem is wholesome and single. It is depression. The depression has been daunting you as you feel you have not achieved any thing. you think you are not like others; you are incapable of doing any thing remarkable in life.

But it is not so, you are not too aged. I think it is apt time as you recognized that you must do something to your youthful kids. That way you will get rid of this worry or depression so for giving trouble.

1. If at all shortfall of money is the base, then consult with your grown up kids. Please understand in what way you will be useful to them. Plan and help them. Get engaged yourself. You will get some financial help also from them if there are sound.

You will take care of your little girl also. Only your love for them will change their mind in favor of you. They will seek your help in getting your love. Be liberal and shower your love and get engaged to forget all the depression.

2. If you analyze yourself, you will find some special skill with in you that can be transformed into a job, hobby, profession into a money making career. You will be engaged. There could be no worry. You need to engage in two things. One earning and the other is extending love to your kids first and to others in the under privileged society.

To find our what to do, or to do the both said above consult your inner mind.

Just sit in a chair- close your eyes- turn your head slightly down-breath deeply- long breathing at least f five times- follow regular breathing- watch only the breathings- you will forget everything slowly- just imagine and see a beautiful scenery like a lake , mountain, ocean, fishing, boating, and other happenings there. you will see a star in the sky coming down and transform into a bright light before you. you will see the lord.

Just say thanks for keeping you safe so far. Just explain your problem and seek his help. Ask for getting a suitable job suitable to your skill. Ask for ways to express your love to your sons and daughter. be in this state for 10 minutes . you will get thew answer instantly or a little later. just count 1 2 3 and come back to the real world to perform what you decided to do.
