Eric, my home is an old home and the front hallway floor has a slant to it.whats the best way to lay a subfloor to even it out
First you should make sure that it is not settling any more or try to figure out what caused the settling. Once your sure everything is structurally sound. Determine how far the floor is out of level. Find the highest point and use the longest level you have, or use a smaller level with a longer straight edge or board. Mark on the wall how far the floor needs to be raised to get it level. You can snap chalk lines on the walls between the level marks. This will allow you to measure and cut wedges or shims to lay under the new sub-floor.
