The only gas I use in my home is my cooktop and oven. Yet, my bill is around 70 to 80 dollars a month. Is this normal or do you think I need to have my range looked at?

Definitely. I would also turn off the over and stove and go out and see if your gas meter is moving.  There might be a leak somewhere in the line.  Of course, it might be the area where you live. I have a gas dryer & stove (both with electronic ignitions) and in the summer,  my bill is usually under $20.

If you can't figure it out, ask your gas company to come out to check if you have a leak--that usually will get them out pretty fast.

Get the gas co. there ASAP! Make sure you can't smell gas anywhere in the house!

Take time to relax!!!  Go fly a kite!

There may be anoyher reason other than what the other people have said.

You didn't say what type of gas you are using. If it is Natural gas you may have a minimum billing fee connected with it, which would add about $10 to your bill.

If your using Propane Gas have the tank checked for leaks around the Pressure Valve located ON the tank itself. than have them check the regulator and lines to your home. Propane is much more expensive than Natural gas.

I agree the a summer bill for gas stove and dryer should be between  $20-$25/ month Maximim.

Something is definatel wrong to have a bill of $70-$80 per month.

I don't think yhe problem is in your stove unless your a professional baker. :)

If you are using natural gas, is your meter read electronically? Check your bill and make sure that it’s not an estimated bill. Either way, have the Gas company investigate.
