Eric, I live below the squeaky floor in an apartment building.Is there a solution for my landlord, short of tearing the building apart?

Sorry, Captain. There are no solutions that your landlord will employ. They are all expensive and messy. If you are willing to cut holes into your ceiling your might be able to do something about this if the problem exists between the joists and subflooring. If the squeak is caused by a space between the subfloor and flooring, then you will not be able to deal with it from your apartment.
