2 thumbs up

According to the book "Wythe County", J.E.B. Stewart was named after Judge James Ewell Brown, his paternal uncle.  (James Ewell Brown was married to J.E.B.'s father Archibald's sister Anne.)  James Ewell Brown's father was Chancellor John Brown, b. October 5, 1762, and Frances Payton Brown, according to the book "Annals of Augusta County, Virginia from 1726 to 1871".  There is no Ewell family connection in sight.
